In honor of Women’s History Month, let’s give flowers to the greatest ever to do this music-ish! Starting with the legend herself, Ms. Tina Turner one of the most iconic and influential performers of our time. Widely referred to as the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” her music is a mix of rock, soul, and R&B, and her powerful voice reflects her unparalleled talent and sheer passion for music. Her stage presence is electric, and her live performances are an experience in themselves.

From her early days in Nutbush, TN, as the draw of the ‘Ike and Tina Turner Revue‘ to her solo career that redefined the genre, she has inspired generations of fans and musicians. Known for classics like “Proud Mary,” “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” and “Private Dancer,” Tina has won numerous awards and accolades, including a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and eight Grammy Awards.

The story of Tina’s personal struggle to overcome adversity and emotional abuse, as well as her ability to walk away and rise above it all, truly sets her apart from others. The incredible resilience and determination that developed in Tina Turner make her a true inspiration to fans worldwide.

This month I had the chance to see the Chicago touring production of “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical,” a live show retelling what we thought we knew of the story of Tina Turner. Having interviewed Roz White, who plays Tina’s mother in the traveling production, I am even more convinced of its magnificence. If you have the opportunity to see this musical, don’t hesitate for a moment. Tina Turner is a living legend, and this is an experience you’ll never forget. The music will move you to your very core, and the live performances are simply incredible. A true icon of the music world, Tina embodies the power of the human spirit.

This month, we also need to praise the Queen herself, Beyoncé. To no one’s surprise, her most recent project RENAISSANCE, has been everywhere as of late and topped the charts without a single music video. Our Queen doesn’t even need the visuals!

But the true standout from the 2022 chart-topping LP so far is ‘CUFF IT.’ The song climbed the charts without a music video or a pushed promotional strategy. Instead, the song gained traction on its own from her fans and TikTok users. Pretty impressive, huh?

Cuff It’ now has been sitting at the top of the charts for over 31 weeks and has managed to tie with the chart-topping single power ballad “Halo” (Feb 2009 to Sept 2009) longevity on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts as her longest charting solo single to date.

More importantly, we can not forget when Tina Turner and Beyoncé performed the now-historic Proud Mary duet at the 2008 Grammys!

So Tina Turner & Beyoncé are my Women’s History Month music icons because they are both SIMPLY THE BEST!
