America’s New Politic…

What do you say about today’s politics? It’s crazy. It’s unbelievable. I ask the question and watch. I wonder where we’ll be in 2024. All the rules are broken and need repair. Perhaps we need to rewrite the Constitution; after all, it’s old, and the world has changed drastically since 1787. How would AI update the Constitution? I’m just asking.

Well, here we are with two white male elders running again. Both men have court trials. Trump is his very own, and Biden watches his son closely. Are you kidding? Could the former President and his son be looking at jail? What happened to the Nobel politician? The new generation, the lady on the move, former governor of South Carolina, blew it when asked how the Civil War began. “What do you want me to say about slavery? How about, what would you do about reparations, since you silently recognize slavery? Sorry, folks, but she disqualified herself.

Trump…

Donald Trump has created a new campaign model: limit your campaign appearances as the front-runner. Watch the polls go up. To date, he leads with 64.1 percent. His is unbelievable, yet natural. The media, the free media, not advertising, might push Trump into the White House. He may be sentenced to jail with his 91 indictments. A sitting President may rule from a 10×10 jail cell. Can you imagine? It’s possible.

Trump changed the Republican party with his John Wayne politics. He brought forth a new agenda, and it is his alone. He is a media master. He said he would be revengeful. He would pardon. He would be a dictator for only his first day and then resume America’s democracy. How about this? The 14th Amendment was passed on June 8, 1866. He says you can’t run if you are “engaged in insurrection.” How many states will keep Trump off the ballot for this simple law? We shall see.

Biden…

Joe Biden is a good president, akin to Truman. His wisdom, his experience, is welcomed to the world at this time. His problem is PR. His good deeds and his message are not getting out. The economy is good. His platform needs to rise, and PR firms everywhere need to be hired. Use the McDonald’s model.

He should take the advice of his former boss, Barack Obama. Upgrade the staff. Use what has worked. Obama had a great team.

Migrants

The migrants are too expensive and will cost some politicians the election. The cities cannot afford the caretaking, and migrant caretaking soon goes into city budgets. This is a big concern for New York and Chicago. Chicago is the place for the Democratic National Convention. But will we get there or see a repeat of 1968? I expect the convention not to be pretty unless the federal government comes forth with significant migrant dollars. The mayors will fall over migrants. Citizens are watchful and angry as city services lessen and come into neighborhoods without notice. City services cannot vanish due to migrants.

The Hoodie and Shorts Wearing Political Candidate

We watch new politicians come forth and wonder who they are. I watched Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania in an interview on Meet The Press. He towers 6’8” with shorts on, discussing his mental health issues after winning the election. Do we want a United States Senator to wear shorts and a hoodie on the hill? Do we want a politician being treated for mental health, depression, and thinking suicide to govern? Get well and come back. Do we appreciate his honesty, or are you fearful? I am fearful of the depressed, tall powerhouse. On the same program, we watch another segment with young women as they talk about the Trump presidential administration. Publically, they say Trump is dangerous and not fit for the presidency. Wow.

The Tragedy of Harvard…

Dr. Claudine Gay (Photo Courtesy of Instagram)

And we watched the tragedy of Harvard. Dr. Claudine Gay was forced into resigning as the 30th President and the first Black. Racism lives. Where were her PR people as she spoke on Capital Hill? Her statement was all wrong. There was so much she could have said to turn it around. But they came for her, and yes, it has something to do with her being a Black woman. The attack on  Dr. Gay is an attack on higher education in America. Be clear. The Civil Rights Movement has lowered its voice. The only leader who addressed her plight was Rev. Al Sampson. He has become a lone voice.

Having said that, where are we going in 2024? Stay tuned.

We watch two wars like they are soap operas on the nightly news. South Africa rises as they challenge Israel with genocide.  We tend to see the crime in the city move upward as they tell us there is a statistical downward trend. But we are anxious as we move about on the streets from carjackings to going to the store to going to school. We watch the children shot and killed for absolutely no reason. We watch children shoot children, and then we remove the police from inside the schools. We become numb to the experience. Some of the children have no names; they are an aged number, particularly the Black ones.

We watch the new protests, and we are confused. We watched a repeat of World War II, but there was no Churchill, Roosevelt, or Golda Meir.   We watch the departure of the loved and wise ones who brought intelligence and solace. There is a new generation, but where are they going? Artificial Intelligence is coming on strong and will dominate in 2024.
