There is no doubt that Daniel Caesar is everyone’s low-key favorite when it comes to expressing matters of the heart in the best possible way. So, we introduce two new singles with a whispering promise of more to follow. ‘Do You Like Me?’ asks us the questions we all want to know the answers to. This song has been playing on repeat for days now; it starts with mellowed, breathy vocals and a strong bass line that will make you bop your head.
The music wraps you in such a warm and soothing blanket that you almost forget he’s being a bit of a toxic king in those lyrics. But hey, we can overlook that because he never fails to captivate his listeners no matter what. There are a few of you out there who are willing to overlook his controversy, but not in public. On the most recent of the singles ‘Let Me Go,’ Caesar soothes the broken heart in this melodic but tragic anti-love song. Listeners might not be able to decide between kissing or crying. Yes, it’s that good! Daniel makes the kind of music that makes you lay in bed and wonder if you’ll ever find someone to make you feel like that. Caesar has something for you if you’re a modern soul fan. The Montreal-based singer/songwriter has a smooth, resonant voice that’s right for ballads, and his catchy new tunes will have you humming along for days. Caesar’s music is popular and critically acclaimed, which is a testament to his talent and hard work.
Having released a very successful album ‘Sin Miedo‘, Kali Uchis is laying a groove for the girls who light one up after a long day. In her new single Moonlight, she woos the listener with her soft and romantic vocals. The switch from English to Spanish keeps our bilingual babes jamming along with anyone that lends the Colombian American singer an ear.
Kali Uchis’s music is a mix of electronic and soulful music that is reminiscent of 60s psychedelic soul and 80s new wave; it’s an intoxicating mix of funky basslines, head-bopping beats, and soulful vocals that really gives a bit of an island vibe with an edge. Kali Uchis’ songs are sensual and moody, drawing you in with her unique voice and mysterious melodies.
Following the pandemic, her Latin billboard-topping song ‘Telapatia‘ was on everyone’s lips. Kali is not one to disappoint and consistently delivers bops to the public. For those who have been listening to Ms. Uchis for some time now, you know there’s no mood that Kali can’t capture in song. Whether it be the laid-back summer time vibe or the melodramatic crooning, Uchis has something for everyone. Ultimately, it’s the lyrics that really stick with the listener.
Kali Uchis is a unifier, letting her music speak to people on a personal level. Her songs are about love, pain, and loss – they’re deep, emotional, and stirring. Kali does it again with her new single and leaves us as eager listeners wondering what she’ll give us next.
ATLien new-age rapper Lil Yachty (Miles Parks McCollum) has dropped the bomb. ‘Let’s Start Here‘, his latest project, completely redefined what we thought we knew about him and his previously questioned musical genius. As a result, he has solidified his position as one of the new best in the south.
In his first track, ‘the BLACK seminole,’ he created a trippy vibe and electrifying riffs, unlike anything we’ve heard from him before. With Jimi Hendrix-like music and punchy lyrics, they portray the mystic existence of a sex symbol. When you think you’ve gotten into the vibe of this song, it completely changes. As the thrilling riffs settle into a smooth bassline backed by some calm chords, there’s a shift into powerful melodic Bowie-like vocals in the fifth minute. The last moment of the song feels like the climax all over again.
This song is followed by some notable favorites like ‘the ride-,‘‘drive ME crazy!’, and ‘pRETTy.’ My personal favorite is the chill bass-heavy ‘running out of time.’ Once again, Yachty’s music puts a bee in my bonnet, and without any obvious features, the album is a truly memorable and musical psychedelic experience.
The “Princess Diana of the Hood” herself drops arguably the hottest hip-hop project of 2023, ‘Like..?’. Isis Gaston, known professionally as Ice Spice, gives the baddies exactly what they want, staying truly on brand in the generation-defining style of drill.
The project’s first track is the already viral ‘in ha mood’ followed by her loveable namesake ‘Princess Diana.’ Then, in my honest opinion, our hood princess gives us her newest and best bop in third place, ‘Gangsta Boo.’ With a feature from internet sensation and fellow NYC native Lil Tjay and with a Diddy sample that leaves us reminiscing over the Y2K era, Ice once again has the internet fixating. Her simplistic lyrical style and catchy beats ensure that the song will be an earworm.
Ms. Spice saves her most-known track for last, and you’d have to be living under a rock if you haven’t heard her song and her coined term for a real eater, ‘Munch (Feelin’U) .’ Enrapturing her fans and supporters and annoying the haters’ Ice gets the new-age vibe of the internet. Ultimately, this EP encapsulates pretty girls having fun and is for sure going on repeat throughout the summer. But, in the words of this prolific philosopher of her generation, “how can she lose if she’s already chose, like..?“
