Trump Again, Pence is Weak, Bravo Nancy, Michelle Knits, and Biden @80…

President Donald Trump is preparing for his re-election campaign. He has changed the Republican party and has led them into the wilderness to the point where they have to reconsider themselves collectively as a political party. What does the new Republican look like?  Under no circumstances can Trump return to the White House for a second term. The country can’t take it. He is under indictment, and surely we must consider the consequences of his presidential deeds to guarantee he will not return to being the most powerful man in the world.

Trump threatened American democracy and was putting into place an overthrow of the government where the actual votes did not matter.  He shows disrespect and disregard for the American people.  He is for Trump and Trump only.  In his way, Trump is all that matters and everything Trump. He disregarded his faithful Vice President and had the mob looking for Pence to hang him. Does it get any worse than this?  January 6 was his waterloo. The message is clear.  NO MORE TRUMP.  NEVER TRUMP AGAIN.

Weak Pence

And then enters former Vice President Mike Pence with his own personal experience in the Trump White House. His new book “So Help Me God” gives us his version of the White House. While posturing for a White House run for the top office, he has made the rounds on national TV shows and looks like a scared man, threatened and still afraid. The book is his pivot. He was bullied and stood up on the principle of his Christian faith. He appears absolutely too weak to assume office. He is polite as he chats about Trump, but his fear is evident. He was noble in his stand on January 6 as he confronted the mob threats that took him to the loading dock of the capital. It is a sorrowful scene that does not fare well for America’s top political leaders. How revealing.

Nancy’s Retiring is a Sign of the Times…

And then there is retirement. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is retiring as Speaker of the House, and many are wondering who will take her place. The little lady, who at 82 wears high heels and pearls, is always stunning as she walks away from the gavel. She has been the most successful Speaker of the House. She gives women a real lift, as she has modeled leadership at the highest level of government, but wife duty calls. The tragedy of the break-in of her home and the hammer put to her husband’s head is too much to bear. The rough and tough side of politics wins as we lose a stellar lady of power.  Thugs should not threaten political families. Such a drastic threat makes you think, is it worth it? The answer for most is “hell no.”  Time to go home.

Michelle Knits…

The beloved First Lady Michelle Obama has a new book, “The Light We Carry,” and is making the “interview” rounds to promote it.

In her new book, she talks about the challenging time of the pandemic, its uncertainty, and how she turned to knitting to calm her nerves. She also talks about being an empty nester and her daughters entering adulthood. Returning home to be in her living room, she is joined by Robin Roberts at her Chicago Hyde Park residence and chats about her time in the White House. She discusses some of the challenges she’s faced since leaving the Oval Office and even visits the talk of the town restaurant, Virtue.

The interview gets lost with the girlfriends who reveal top secrets, like the First Lady is quite punctual and as they visited Camp David, they exercised three times a day. That’s all you can do while on top of the world? So much for knitting and a light depression in this confusing world. The book will do well, I just bought a couple for Christmas presents, but now, give me a real interview on what you think as we navigate this new world. Come home, Michelle for a real interview with locals.  Perri Small and I await.

Biden @ 80…

And then there is Mr. Joe Biden at 80 years old. He makes a unique history, being the oldest in the Presidential seat. Will he run again is the question – I hope so. Would you rather have crazy man Trump or wise man Biden? The country had to turn around, and Biden’s experienced hand showed the way with a firm grip. It is good that he can cross the aisle. Don’t look at his age; look at his stage. Go, Biden.
