Taye Diggs is joining the cast of Empire for the show’s third season.

The actor, who also recently had a recurring role on on the Fox series Rosewood, will recur as Angelo Dubois, a New York councilman with a Harvard law degree and a wealthy family background. Instead of pursuing richer endeavors, Dubois instead focuses on local politics and community issues, which inspires Barack Obama comparisons
Empire premieres Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
