J.B. Pritzker for Governor

We endorse Governor J. B. Pritzker for a second term. He was outstanding as a leader during the two-year pandemic and did the right things during this time of crisis. His choice of appointing Dr. Ngozi O. Ezike as the Illinois Department of Public Health director was wonderful. Providing daily updates on the pandemic was the right thing to do as they advised, updated the state of health. Again, he rose to the occasion.

Pritzker balanced the budget and set the state right after the disaster of the Rauner years that shut down and prevented agencies from functioning and brought financial disaster to the small business sector. This was a fete unto itself.

Pritzker has supported women’s rights to control their bodies. So much so that the State of Illinois will be a safe haven for those who choose abortions. He is a leader in this area. While the Governor looks at Illinois, he also indicates that he might have his eye on further political horizons, like the White House. The national stage might welcome his leadership. He is prepared and wealthy enough to engage in the pursuit.

The Governor could be more astute in the area of minority contractual awards. This is an area needing significant improvement.  The Governor could be more involved with the Black community for sure. But, he could also do what was campaigned with equality and fairness in the new for-profit cannabis industry.

Given the campaign of Darren Bailey, Pritzker is hands down the choice for re-election. Bailey sounds like a southern man from the deep south of yesteryear, foolish and ignorant. He stated that slaves were treated well by slave masters, and he’s against women having the right to control their bodies.

Bailey speaks loudly about the high crime rate in Chicago and blames the Governor and the Mayor, but offers no real solutions. He is exploitive in his action, as he moves to Chicago to the area of crime to exploit the situation rather than to help it.

The Bailey campaign has introduced a top-notch professional journalist, one who retired and reported superbly on politics to support him. But the commercials say no more than that Bailey is a farmer and can grow food. These are good attributes but have nothing to do with running the State of Illinois. Bailey sounds like a threat to the Black citizenry, particularly like the southern white men who lynched Blacks on Sundays after church at the picnic.

To fit with Bailey’s message, he appears racist, sexist, and anti-semantic. He occupies the popular isms. In a word, he is frightening and threatening to the goodwill of the state of Illinois. He is so far right that he needs to stay right on the farm and continue to grow food and raise cattle. He is not fit for leadership of our great state.

So, J.B. Pritzker is a clear choice.
