Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is a film that is a history lesson, a cautionary tale, and a nightmare all at once.
As the film transitions from a vibrant picture of Black life during Jim Crow to something more sinister, you’ll find yourself questioning, as the characters do, if you want to continue living the way you are and if so are you prepared for the consequences? As the saying goes, “You keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s gonna follow you home,” and in Sinners, that dance is both thrilling and terrifying.
