The 2024 presidential election has taken a turn with the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz. It is a brand new day, and the public is excited.
Women, young people, and individuals from all walks of life are stepping forward. The election is underway, and a grassroots movement is taking shape. This is not just the Harris/Walz campaign; it’s a movement of the people. The crowds are growing, the funds are pouring in, and the contributions are a testament to the people’s wavering support. Harris and Walz lead a genuine people’s campaign from the bottom up. The major turn of the campaign is not voting against but rather voting “for.” People want to go to work.
Running Scared and Telling Lies…
The Trump team is running scared. Trump is beyond lies; he is not fictional. He tells a make-believe, untrue story about when he and Willie Brown, former Speaker of the House of California, were in a helicopter that almost crashed as they rode over California state to observe the fires. This happened in 2018. As the helicopter approached danger, Mr. Brown spoke “disparagingly” about Kamala. Trump, really now.
The story’s truth is that Willie Brown was not in the helicopter and never has been in an aircraft with The Donald. Talk about mistaken identity. The Browns in question were former Governor of California Jerry Brown and Wilie Brown. Governor Gavin Newsome was on the helicopter. The aircraft was not threatened with any form of danger. And no one spoke of Kamala; why would they?
Trump has attacked and challenged the Harris campaign by saying his crowds are more significant than hers. However, they are not. And he even goes to the extreme to say his crowds are more significant than Dr. King’s March on Washington. Lie. Lie Lie. Why does the media allow him to get away with such tales?
Trump has gotten out of bounds with his accounts. And the press reports it when some of his shenanigans should be uncovered and not reported. Truth is the media; mainstream media has created a Frankenstein with Trump. The excessive coverage is overkill. Enough already.
Hillbilly Side Kick…
And then there is the zany Republican hillbilly Senator JD Vance. He has an intellectual pro-parent plan that suggests those without children should have fewer voting rights than those with children. Would that include paying less taxes? Does that mean single folk don’t have to contribute to the education fund?
They both question Kamala’s timing and campaign strategy. They ask why she is not doing one-on-one interviews like they are. They have attacked her personage, calling her out of name. They were calling her unqualified and too stupid to have a press conference. The hillbilly vice president candidate sounds like a madman. And Trump is now the elder who runs foul with forgetfulness and confusion, so should he resign? It is time for reality politics to manifest—no more name-calling, lies, imagination, wishful thinking, fighting words, or war tactics. The pundits are claiming Trump is becoming unhinged and that is may need psychological counseling. Trump, the performer, the TV reality star, is crashing. Trump has assumed the Republicans and Kamala must take the Democrats to new heights. Kamala has refreshed national politics with excitement, hope, and joy. The doom and gloom take a back seat to her smiling face.
The theater of politics is always interesting. We have watched Trump for two years now on a daily diet. It is time for the media to take charge and check Trump on his lies and tales of untruths. It is time to tuck Frankenstein away. It is time for positions to come out on policy. I so wish Kamala would give Trump a nickname, perhaps Big Blondie. But she’s probably too ladylike.
We anxiously await the September 10th debate. Surely, Vice President Kamala Harris will demolish Trump for all to see. Now is the time for the campaign to start with reality checks.
Stay tuned.
