Over the recent holidays, we remember two of the best and most significant achievers. Tina Turner and Jim Brown. Both were very successful in life despite facing odds but were able to create a plan leading to achieving incredible goals…
Tina Turner
At 83, Tina Turner, whose real name was Anna Mae Bullock, died of cancer and kidney problems. She was a lovely woman; her tale is about sadness, letdown, and victory. She was from Nutbush, Tennessee, and joined the Spring Hill Baptist Choir. At 17, she transitioned from the church stage to the nightclub scene. She was a bashful young teen when she met her future husband, Ike Turner, a subpar musician. Ike had excellent intentions when he arrived, but his jealousy and, more importantly, his abuse turned out badly. Tina put up with his abuse as long as she could since she was the star of his show.
When fully capable, she stood up for herself and left him. She pleaded for a hotel room with only 65 cents to her name. Later she made good on her commitment to return to settle the cost.
The European producers, though, observed something different. They witnessed her elegance, stride, style, and charisma. She had no peers and was a magical performer. Her performances were captivating and full of energy. They could hear her stifled narration. She was remade and reimagined with a new stage that was fit for the world, and they wrote brand-new original songs for her. She was given the name TINA as her new moniker.
She left the United States to live in Switzerland after finding love and good fortune in Europe. She got remarried to Mr. Erwin Bach, who adored her, and the two of them had a lovely romance. As her sole husband, she makes this claim. She strutted and performed unique songs that became famous all over the world.
Tina won Grammys and held the top spot for years. She was an idol and was in charge. She was a rock star with outstanding long legs, hair, and moves. She was captivating on stage, and while she performed while sporting high heels, you could not help but watch her perform while anticipating her next move. She was a celebrity in my view since she came from nothing and succeeded by showcasing her uniqueness. She lived long enough to see her life story on Broadway and in movies. Football legend Jim Brown recently passed away in Los Angeles at 87. He was an exceptional athlete who excelled in basketball and track. Football was his sport, and he rose to become the Cleveland Browns‘ finest player. He was unbeatable, and watching him race across the field too quickly to be caught was pure prose. He was incredible, handling the ball like no other while moving like a panther. A ballerina on the field, he was. Motion is beautiful. He has been hailed as history’s finest. At 30, he quit the game because he was insulted by Mr. Art Modell’s threat of suspension. He handed them their ball and went on to become an activist and performer.
Brown and I spent the day together at my workplace. He wanted to discuss his successful program for young Black guys in Los Angeles with them. For ex-offenders and young Black guys, he founded Amer-I-Can.
He came to meet me with his friend from Chicago, Kublai Torre. He had a burning desire to transform “bad boys” into extraordinary men. He claimed that the reason his program was successful was that it had no pretense, that it met the young guys where they were, and that it offered practical guidance. For a few of them, he acted as Superman. His strategy was direct. He had much to say, and I will never forget our insightful discussion.

Brown has a violent temper and a history of hitting and slapping women. Even after he admitted his wrongdoings, he was nonetheless imprisoned.
He had a wonderful moment off the field when he put together “The Cleveland Summit.” He actively battled racism.
It started after champion Muhammad Ali was insulted and stripped of his title belt for refusing to enlist in the Army. Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, two of the best athletes of the time, were withdrawn by Brown in support of Ali’s choice. Insisting that Viet Nam and its people were not his adversaries, Ali rejected the army draft. He remained steadfast, and The Army suggested he engage in exhibition battles. He refused, claiming that being a part of the American military was against his Muslim faith.
He was ridiculed and denigrated by the White Press. Brown joined him as a man and fellow athlete. They both asserted that in addition to being men off the field, we would play our best on it. They both came out on top in the end because they stood up for Black guys, even though their individual decisions cost them money. However, in the end, they were true symbols and champions, and the world admired them for their tenacity. The game was altered by Jim Brown. A GOAT, he was.
