How did you get involved in event planning?
I started being involved in event planning in elementary school, assisting in planning school events such as report card pick up, dances, and graduations.
When did you decide to take your business to the next level?
I decided to take my business to the next level at the end of my college career. This is because I’ve always been taught to have multiple streams of income.
What personality traits, skills, and education do you think all event planners must have?
As a planner, you have to be organized, love people, be creative, and be business-minded. I firmly believe in education, but success comes from having a gift and grace for what you do.
What was your most successful event planning experience?
I LOVE producing services & events for my church – New Life Covenant Church Southeast. We have an annual Black Friday Party where we celebrate our Senior Pastor’s birthday, and we get to support black-owned businesses.
How would you handle an event going over budget?
I keep open communication with clients throughout the planning process to avoid this or warn them. I believe in not bringing any last-minute surprises to a client.
What do you do when you feel stressed during the event planning process?
When I’m feeling stressed during the planning process, I look at what I can delegate to my team so I can lighten the workload for a moment.
Have you ever planned more than one event at a time?
I usually plan 3-5 events at the same time.
How do you prioritize competing project deadlines?
I work on every project every day, making sure deadlines are met. I utilize a management software system, google calendar, and a talented team.
Have you ever dealt with a difficult client? How did you handle them/the situation?
To successfully work with a difficult client, you must be clear in your communication, concise with the information, and NEVER match their energy. In addition, you have to always be solution oriented.
Are there any event types you find particularly interesting or exciting to plan?
I love producing worship services/events, and birthday parties are always fun!
Has the event planning arena become saturated?
I believe that there are enough clients in the world for everyone. I believe in sharing clientele. What’s for me will always be for me, same for you!
What is the best advice you have ever received?
The best advice I have been given is a reminder that the Promises of God are Yes & Amen- so basically, if God said it, that settles it!

“Excellence Honors God & Inspires People”
What song are you currently “bumping” in your car?
Bigger – JJ Hairston Featuring Travis Greene & Donishisa Ballard and the ENTIRE Beyoncé Renaissance Album.
