Chance The Rapper Disses the Mayor in New Music!

Ziggy
Chance The Rapper has little love for Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Chance the Rapper has gone local with his music rap game. It’s all about Chicago, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and old neighborhoods. He’s in major “diss” mode. Wow. So Chance why don’t you tell us how you really feel?

The artist surprise-dropped four new singles in the wee hours of the night, including I Might Need Security in which he raps:
“And Rahm you done, I’m expecting a resignation, and open investigation on all these paid vacations for murderers,” the lyrics say. The song has a chorus repeating the phrase “Fk you.” The song may have stemmed from the time Rahm walked out of Chance’s speech at a City Council meeting.

He also has beef with several Chicago-based media outlets: He takes a shot at a column in the Chicago Sun-Times from last year that brought up a child-support dispute between Chance and the mother of his daughter after Chance donated $1 million to Chicago Public Schools. He also seems to criticize Crain’s Chicago Business for reporting that he bought a condo.

He also drops a bomb, announcing that he has purchased local news site Chicagoist. The shuttered media outlet, canned by former owner Joe Ricketts, was shut down along with Gothamist, DNAinfo and other online publications last year.

Chance raps: “And I can’t do nothing right, they gon’ always be at me. I missed a Crain’s interview, they tried leaking my daddy. I donate to the schools next, they call me a deadbeat daddy. But Sun-Times get in that Rauner business. I got a hit-list so long I don’t know how to finish. I bought the Chicagoist just to run you racist bitches out of business!”

“I’m extremely excited to be continuing the work of the Chicagoist, an integral local platform for Chicago news, events and entertainment,” Chance said. “WNYC’s commitment to finding homes for the -ist brands, including Chicagoist, was an essential part of continuing the legacy and integrity of the site. I look forward to re-launching it and bringing the people of Chicago an independent media outlet focused on amplifying diverse voices and content.”

Chance’s other new tracks are titled, Work Out, Wala Calm, and 65th and Ingleside. To hear audio for I Might Need Security, click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZAc41N2QRU

Michelle Williams Checks Into Mental Health Facility

Michelle, with Destiny’s Child, and fiance Chad Johnson

Former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams admitted that she recently sought help from medical professionals at a mental health facility. Last October, Williams, while a guest-host on The Talk, shared that she had been depressed since she was 13, but she didn’t know until her 30s what was going on.

Although never shy about her struggles with her mental health, the 37-year-old singer has said that she’s suffered from depression and felt “suicidal” during her time in the girl group, between 2000 and 2005. Now, she’s taken to social media to discuss the fact that she’s currently seeking mental health treatment.

“For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing,” she wrote.

“I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals,” Williams posted on Instagram. She received an outpouring of supportive messages on the post, including from Beyonce’s mom, Tina Knowles Lawson, and Missy Elliott.

Earlier this year, the former Destiny’s Child singer got engaged to Chad Johnson, a former pro sports chaplain for pro athletes and sports teams.

The King
Ziggy
Film producer Eugene Jarecki says that he has produced a movie to make sense out of the world’s madness. Is he comparing Elvis to Trump? In town to premier The King, he says the story line is set to music on the road tracing the Elvis life riding in a Rolls Royce with music and interviews conducted in the car’s back seat. Jarecki says the rise and fall of Elvis is a metaphor of today’s America and that all phases of Presley’s life embodied “Americanism.”

Elvis was born poor to a southern family, he went to the Army, he married a young girl, he reached out for the quick fix with dope and vanity. He rose too fast and was destroyed by power and money. Jarecki says the film is probably the most significant on the screen today because it provides the tools to deal with today’s madness. He reminds us that Elvis died on the toilet and that democracy is a full time enterprise.

The film opens Saturday at the Music Box, 3733 N. Southport and Jarecki conducts a Q&A at the matinee and evening performance on Saturday.

Denzel’s Sequel Equalizer 2

Actor Ashton Sanders, Director Antoine Fuqua, and star Denzel Washington.

Typically you will never find actor Denzel Washington in a movie sequel. He hasn’t done them until now. There must be something special for him to break his own rule for The Equalizer 2.

Washington reprises his role as retired CIA agent Robert McCall, who remains unshaken by even the direct turn of events. He said the movie didn’t have the feel of a sequel for him because of his familiarity with filmmaker Antoine Fuqua, who also directed him in The Equalizer, Training Day, and The Magnificent Seven.

Fans of the first film will instantly know why Washington is drawn to the character of Robert McCall, a quiet middle-aged retired special-ops agent who fiercely believes in justice, likes to help others and dispenses the occasional lethal judgment for those deserving.

“We all have to pay for our sins,” he tells a group of very bad guys in the new, highly satisfying edition, before vowing to hunt each one dead. His only regret? He can kill them only once.

Oprah’s Food Passion

Oprah Winfrey, media mogul, philanthropist, actress, and producer is now an investor in True Food Kitchen, a Phoenix-based, healthy-food restaurant chain started by Sam Fox. Winfrey made an equity investment in True Food and will join the board of directors, helping the brand continue to expand across the U.S. True Food currently has 23 locations with plans of doubling that number in the next three years.

Winfrey first visited True Food Kitchen in South Monica with friend Bob Greene, a celebrity fitness trainer. She was so impressed with the restaurant’s passion for healthy eating and delicious food that she wanted to be a part of the company’s future.

She invited True Food’s CEO Christine Barone to dine at her estate in Montecito. They discussed the future of the business and strategies to bring healthier eating to more people.

True Food Kitchen is reportedly the top restaurant on the rise to become the next big thing. It’s known for Mediterranean and Asian inspired flavors and dishes while focusing on serving ingredients with anti-inflammatory properties.

It seems that Oprah has the Midas Touch! What’s next? The Oprahmobile luxury car?

Whitaker met Obama while the two were studying as graduate students at Harvard University.

Ziggy
Winnie Harlow is a 23-year-old Canadian fashion model who is known for embracing the skin condition vitiligo. Vitiligo is a long-term condition that causes pale, white patches to develop on the skin due to the lack of a chemical called melanin. The skin condition was made widely know by Michael Jackson.

Diagnosed with vitiligo at aged four, Winnie had a difficult time at school as she was teased by children at school and called “cow” or “zebra”. The torment led her to change schools numerous times and even contemplate suicide. She eventually dropped out of high school.

She was first discovered on Instagram by Tyra Banks and was subsequently picked to be one of the fourteen finalists of the twenty-first cycle of America’s Next Top Model. Tyra said: “Her skin breaks down barriers of what is considered beautiful.”

After leaving the modeling competition, Harlow modeled for the Spanish clothing brand Desigual and became their brand representative. She has walked in countless fashion shows and music videos including Beyonce’s “visual” album: Lemonade. She has graced magazine covers and appeared in Ebony magazine, Sprite commercials and a campaign for Swarovski.

Besides modeling, Winnie has been involved in public speaking events, talking and answering questions about her life living with vitiligo. She has inspired young black girls with the same condition to embrace their looks and be confident!

Kay Black, aka Kay Customz, an artist, has also encouraged those with vitiligo to be proud of who they are; she’s doing so through inclusive custom dolls that have the same condition. Dolls can play a big part in the self-esteem of young children.

If they see a toy that looks like them, it can make them feel more accepting of who they are. Black, creates dolls each with a different personality (like young black girls that have the condition), using paint and adorning their faces and hands with lighter-colored markings inspired by real people.

The beautiful dolls, rocking colorful attire, are no different than any other toy, with the exception of their two-toned skin. Through this one difference, however, Black sends a powerful message of self-acceptance—that the thing that makes someone different is also what makes them special. She loves what she does and takes pride in each custom design. In addition to dolls with vitiligo, Black also creates custom dolls with albinism.
