Taraji P. Henson’s memoir, Around the Way Girl, is coming out this fall.
“I’m just a girl who went to Hollywood with my son, $700, and a dream,” Henson said in a statement on Simon & Schuster’s website. “There were some detours along the way, some heartache, and a whole lot of hustle. My family, friends, and fans always keep it real with me. Know that I’m going to keep it real with you. Check out my story. I hope you laugh with me and cry with me and maybe get a little bit inspired.”
The publisher shared that the memoir will include stories about Henson’s father, a Vietnam veteran, and her mother, who survived violence at home and on the streets. Henson will also comment on her education at Howard University. The book is scheduled for release October 11.
