April was National Stress Awareness Month and several recent studies have come to the same conclusion: women are feeling the pressures of stress more than their male counterparts. On Saturday, April 27, Leading Ladies International hosted their 4th Annual Empowerment Conference at Cibola located at 1647 S. Blue Island.

The empowering festivities featured the morning panel, State of the Union on Women’s Health addressing how women are dealing with stress and health challenges as wives, mothers, employees and caregivers. The second panel featured the keynote address Surviving and Thriving to Build a Legacy as a Leading Lady given by ABC 7 Chicago news anchor, Karen Jordan.

The purpose of the conference is to highlight unsung and sung women who share their personal stories to empower other women, stated Larvetta Loftin-Smith, visionary of Leading Ladies International Conference.

“When we first started Leading Ladies International Conference people were faced with a financial crisis across the country and many people were losing hope as well as confidence in their dreams,” Loftin-Smith explained. “Over my 17 year professional career I was able to connect with so many positive women who were mentors to me. I wanted to share my connections to help women cultivate relationships, expose dreams, provide support for next level success and to encourage generational wealth.”

In its 4th year, the 2013 Leading Ladies Empowerment Conference honorees and panelists included Chicago women from all walks of life. Panel discussions motivated and inspired the audience with candid and honest dialogue in an atmosphere of fellowship and camaraderie. Attendees experienced compelling stories from leading ladies in the area of health and wellness, business, entrepreneurship, family, and career. Guests were also treated to a Leading Ladies vendor marketplace where women experienced demonstrations, “how to” clinics and coaching strategies to improve overall health, success and wealth. Lunch and a healthy breakfast option were included.

The event was sponsored by Cork Catering, Studio AG, Izze Sparkling Juice and Verizon. Vendors included MB Financial Bank, American Family D. Tyler Agency, Stella & Dot Jewelry, Real Estate Broker Services, Enfluence Boutique (women’s apparel), Anointed Wives Ministry, Authors, Pigs Don’t wear Pearls and JMH Creative.
