For over 50 years Izola’s Restaurant and Ms. Izola White have been a staple in the Chatham Community on the south side of Chicago. To celebrate her 90th birthday and serve as a fund-raiser the two day affair, Ms. Izola White’s Community Day on
Saturday, September 22nd and Sunday, September 23rd at Izola’s Soul Food Restaurant 522-524 East 79th Street.

Ms. Izola White’s Community Day will feature free health screenings, free child IDs, informational tables, live entertainment and food on Saturday. The restaurant will reopen on Sunday for Soul Food Sunday to continue the celebration for Ms. Izola.
With the unfortunate fail in health Ms. Izola is no longer able to work her business after five decades of dedicated service. To honor her and help raise funds for her to pay for the around the clock care that will allow her to stay in her home we are asking for donations from the community.
The restaurant served as a haven for elected officials and community leaders to meet. A celebrity was seen eating their favorite southern meal there a time or two. Most importantly the Chicago community came in daily to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. Donations to Ms. Izola can be made to The Estate of Izola White, P.O. Box 198717, Chicago, IL 60619 or call Dewayne Mason 773-936-1455. For additional information e-mail Friendsofizola@comcast.net.
