Marques Houston – “Famous”

MHAlbumCover

Famous.

Marques Houston has returned to his musical roots with the newly released Famous on the Silent Partner Entertainment/Shanachie Entertainment imprint.  With Famous, available now, Marques delivers 12-tracks of sensual lyricism with Marvin Gaye and D’Angelo inspired vocals. His falsetto melodies throughout the entire album.

The talented singer, songwriter and actor opens with the Marvin Gaye influenced ‘Only You’ which has the lyrical vibe of ‘Let’s Get It On’ all over it.  The content message, however, is flipped as Marques is trying to regain the love and trust of his significant other.

He sweetens things up with ‘Nothin’ On You’ and becomes cocky with the title-track “Famous” where he isn’t shy about his ability to deliver in the bedroom.  Female fans will be charmed with ‘Speechless’ where his intrigue of that special lady leaves him in awe and wanting to make every move the right one.  It’ll be a prelude to a very nice evening.

Though much of Marques Houston’s sixth album feels like a love experiment where the female gem is still be searched for – but along the way there has been memorable relationships, his heart is open on “Lifetime”.  There’s a sincerity within his delivery and a heartfelt apology left on wax. Acknowledging his faults, he questions how his significant other is able to deal with all the pain he’s caused. Through smoke and genuine friendship, the realization is made that true love really lasts a lifetime.
