U. S. Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II, elected as the first African American Mayor of Kansas City in 1991 and is currently Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus will be in Chicago next week to help honor some of Chicago’s leaders in diversity at law firm Barnes & Thornburg’s Third Annual Celebration of Diversity on Tuesday August 14, 2012, at the Palmer House Hilton starting at 5:30pm.

Mr. Cleaver will deliver the keynote address at this unique celebration of diversity meant to unite leaders in the business and legal community who are unwavering in their commitment to make the Chicago and legal and business community among the most diverse in the country.
The third annual dinner and reception will also honor businesses and legal leaders in the Chicago community who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to diversity, justice, and civil rights, including:
- Andrea L. Zopp; CEO and President of the Chicago Urban League who is focused on creating a sustainable African American community in Chicago.
- Edward M. Burke, alderman of the 14th Ward of the City of Chicago who has been committed to diversity through his stint as the longest serving alderman in Chicago history.
· The Northstar Lottery Group, the private manager of the Illinois Lottery who recently doubled its annual contracting goal to businesses owned by minorities, women and people with disabilities (MFBDE) businesses since its ramp-up began in the spring of 2011.
