Arts Incubator: Off the Record Pt. 2: booker t. soultreyne rekkid release

Off the Record Pt. 2 is the second installment of performances celebrating the release of music/sound design created during avery r. young’s 2012-13 Arts and Public Life residency. “booker t. soltreyne: a race rekkid” is a collection of songs that speak to relations in race, gender, and politics inside the Obama era. avery will perform selections from the album, talk about the process, and premiere a video.

About the project

booker t. soltreyne: a race rekkid is a CD archive of sound design that combines song, poetry and interviews that deal with matters of race and politics in America. Referencing packaging and marketing of the “race recordings” of the 1920’s and 40’s, booker t. soltreyne will reflect upon how the old pedagogies and processes of racism still exist in the Obama Era.
